PFE best practice 3: Shift change huddles and bedside reporting - Recording

October 26, 2022
Webinar

12 - 1 p.m.

Join EQIC for the second session in the Patient and Family Engagement Best Practices series. Using the CMS five PFE best practices as a guideline, our PFE speakers will cover the third practice, exploring methods for effective shift change huddles and bedside reports and the barriers they present.

When we think about the people involved in the care of a hospitalized patient, there is only one person who is present at all times, the patient. The purpose of bedside shift reports or huddles is to share information between nurses, patients and families. It provides an opportunity for patients to actively engage in their care and for family members to participate. It has been shown that when patients and families are included in these discussions, there is a decrease in communication-related harms.

Speakers:

Tanya Lord, PhD, MPH, Senior Director, Patient and Family Engagement, Foundation for Healthy Communities

Aashna Taneja, MS BME, CPHQ, EQIC Program Manager, HANYS
