Our third Opioid ROADE Work sprint webinar will feature Mathew Jared, MD, hospitalist at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, who will expand upon the lessons learned in the previous session on opioid best prescribing practices. In this session, Dr. Jared will focus on:
- preventing opioid adverse drug events;
- strategies for pain management; and
- alternatives to opioid use.
After the webinar, hospitals will continue to work on their opioid-focused project plans. Specifically, implementing patient screening tools, ensuring patient monitoring protocols are in place, educating providers and care teams on opioid alternatives and utilizing Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles, with a focus on reducing opioid-related adverse drug events and other improvement opportunities. EQIC project managers will assist hospitals progressing through their action plans, including training staff members on key content from this webinar and strategizing for PDSA cycles.
EQIC encourages participation of key team members, including ADE and opioid initiative leads, nursing and pharmacy staff, hospitalists, care transition team members and other clinical and professional staff.
