The EQIC contract ended on Sept. 17. This website is no longer regularly maintained but contains many tools, resources and recordings from our programming that will be accessible through June 2025.
1 - 2 p.m.
The next EQIC webinar in the opioid ROADE Work sprint will feature subject matter expert, Richard Bottner, Director, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Colorado Hospital Association. Bottner will share strategies for hospitals to consider in reducing stigma towards patients who utilize opioids, as well as methods for patient and family engagement relative to opioid use. Stigma around opioid use and treatment can cause patients to experience additional or more severe symptoms, lead to severe adverse drug events and, in general, prevent their recovery from progressing positively. The goal is to treat the whole patient in a manner that is effective, safe and reduces the risk of harm. By reducing stigma and engaging the patient/family/caregiver in the decision-making process, the chance of improving opioid-related outcomes increases.
EQIC encourages the participation of key team members including ADE and opioid initiative leads, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, hospitalists, care transition team and other clinical and professional staff members.
