EQIC is pleased to launch our glycemic management sprint focused on reducing insulin-related adverse drug events. Patients with diabetes can be complex to manage, and hypoglycemic episodes can be sudden and severe and may lead to other complications and harm. Thus, reducing insulin ADEs remains a top priority for our EQIC hospitals.
This first session features James Desemone, MD, FACP, CPE from Albany Medical Center, who will review why basal-bolus therapy is the preferred method of managing inpatient and outpatient insulin. Dr. Desemone also will share practical and useful ways to monitor and treat your inpatients, as well as prepare them for their own insulin management.
Subsequent sessions in the glycemic management sprint will explore perioperative insulin care, medication management and discharge planning.
Speaker:
James Desemone, MD, FACP, CPE, Associate Professor of Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Albany Medical College
