1 - 2 p.m.
The next session in the EQIC inpatient glycemic management sprint will continue the discussion of the practical application of basal-bolus insulin therapy. Dr. Desemone from Albany Medical Center will continue the conversation, covering insulin correction, order sets and insulin pumps. This session also will focus on recognizing signs and symptoms of insulin-related adverse drug events and reviewing options for addressing the events.
The presentation will demonstrate that the goals of inpatient glycemic management are to teach the patient the tools they need to set them up for success as they transition out of the hospital and manage their care independently.
Speakers:
James Desemone, MD, FACP, CPE, Professor of Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Albany Medical College
