Noon - 1 p.m.
The next session in the EQIC glycemic management sprint will be led by Drs. Felicia Mendelsohn Curanaj and Jane Jeffrie Seley of NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.
This presentation will focus on caring for diabetic patients undergoing surgery, including best practices for glucose monitoring pre- and post-surgery, adjusting medication relative to surgery, achieving glycemic targets in ICU and non-ICU units and correcting medication when there are complications.
Many insulin-related adverse drug events occur during patient transitions. Communication between units during hand-offs is important to ensuring the patient’s care plan is continued, regardless of location.
Providers and care team members are encouraged to attend.
